Programme Description
In Chopin meets the Beatles, Wojciech Waleczek creates an original dialogue between the Romantic world of Fryderyk Chopin and the iconic music of The Beatles. The programme reveals unexpected affinities between two apparently distant musical traditions, connected by melodic invention, emotional directness and a strong sense of musical narrative.
The first part of the concert is devoted to Chopin. Virtuoso variations, waltzes, songs and a solo-piano arrangement of the Romance from the First Piano Concerto demonstrate the richness, lyricism and expressive range of his musical language. The programme also includes selected transcriptions of Chopin’s Polish songs by Franz Liszt, extending the dialogue between composition, interpretation and transformation.
After the intermission, the concert presents some of the best-known songs by The Beatles, together with John Lennon’s Imagine, in sophisticated solo-piano arrangements by Kamil Pawłowski. Familiar melodies are reimagined through classical pianistic textures while retaining their original character, energy and emotional immediacy.
Combining Romantic masterpieces with universally recognised songs, Chopin meets the Beatles is designed for concert halls, festivals, cultural institutions and special events seeking an accessible, engaging and artistically coherent piano show.
