In Liszt meets Queen, Wojciech Waleczek creates a powerful dialogue between the Romantic virtuosity of Franz Liszt and the iconic music of Queen. The programme brings together two musical worlds rarely heard side by side, united virtuosity of Franz Lis by expressive intensity, dramatic power and imagination.
The first part of the concert presents selected masterpieces by Franz Liszt alongside his virtuoso piano transcriptions of songs by Fryderyk Chopin. Works of dazzling virtuosity, lyrical depth and poetic refinement showcase the full expressive range of the piano—from the intimacy of Liebestraum and Consolation No. 3 to the brilliance of La campanella, the lyrical character of Chopin’s songs and the dramatic energy of the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2.
After the intermission, Queen’s greatest hits are transformed into spectacular arrangements for solo piano by Kamil Pawłowski. Familiar songs are reimagined with symphonic breadth, rhythmic energy and pianistic brilliance, revealing new colours and emotions while preserving the character and spirit of the originals.
Combining classical virtuosity with legendary rock music, Liszt meets Queen is an engaging piano show designed for concert halls, festivals, cultural institutions and special events. It demonstrates how great music can transcend time, style and category.
